Want to get the most out of your AirFanta 3Pro? Here are five tips and tricks that will help you improve its performance, energy efficiency, filter lifespan, and much more.
1. The most efficient speed setting
The best speed setting for AirFanta 3Pro, according to AirFanta, is medium speed (setting 3). Here are three reasons why.
First, the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), aka amount of clean air delivered per hour, is 420 m³/h. Although it’s not as high as top speed (702 m³/h), it is still several times more than most air purifiers at their top speed in the same price range as AirFanta 3Pro.
Second, the AirFanta 3Pro uses 11 W / 7.3 V of power at medium speed. Compared to the highest speed setting and the lowest speed setting, medium gives you the most clean air per wattage.
Third, the noise level at medium setting is 46 dB, meaning that you get the most clean air per decibel when compared to the higher speed settings. At 46 dB, most people would not notice that an air purifier is running.
Lastly, you can get at least 6 air changes per hour of clean air (meets Singapore NEA and AHAM’s recommendations) in a room that is up to 26 m² in size.
Taking all these factors into account, medium speed is the most efficient speed setting in terms of performance, energy usage, and noise level.
2. Your filters still work after they’ve turned black
Contrary to popular belief, air purifier replacement filters aren’t useless the moment they turn black. You can still use them for several months even after they’ve turned black. If your replacement filters turn black, it’s a good sign that they have been cleaning the air and preventing all the dirt and nasty stuff from entering your lungs.
So, how do we know that they still work even after they’ve turned black?
We monitored the PM2.5 and PM10 levels over a four-month period in a location that uses multiple AirFanta 3Pro units. Although the filters turned black in the fourth month, the PM2.5 and PM10 levels were similar or even lower than what they were in the first month. This indicates that the air cleaning performance didn’t reduce much, despite the filters turning black.
AirFanta recommends changing your AirFanta 3Pro filters every 6 to 12 months (for High Efficiency) or 4 to 9 months (for High Efficiency + Activated Carbon). Filters that have turned black could be used for another 2 to 5 months before seeing a significant drop in air-cleaning performance, depending on the PM2.5/PM10 levels and usage.

3. Pair your AirFanta 3Pro with a smart plug
You can use your AirFanta 3Pro together with a smart plug (sold separately) to enjoy more features, such as remote control (turning on/off the air purifier remotely via your smartphone) and timer/schedule control (turning on/off the air purifier at set times). Doing so will allow you to reduce electricity consumption and increase the filter lifespan when no one is using the room.
TIP: Most smart plugs in the market are compatible with AirFanta 3Pro. The maximum current of the AirFanta 3Pro’s power plug is 4.0 A (ampere).
4. Place one AirFanta 3Pro in each room to get the cleanest air
Enjoy highly clean air by placing at least one AirFanta 3Pro in each room (up to 26 m²) and setting it to medium speed (setting 3).
This will ensure each room gets at least 6 air changes per hour (ACH) of clean air, meeting the Singapore NEA’s recommendation of 5 to 7 ACH to fight airborne diseases like COVID-19, as well as AHAM’s 4.8 ACH recommendation for allergies, dust and smoke.
You can adjust the speed setting and number of units depending on the size of the room (for example, a 50 m² room would require two AirFanta 3Pro units at medium speed to achieve 6 ACH).

5. Travel with AirFanta 3Pro
Traveling to highly polluted cities and need clean air in your hotel room? You can dismantle your AirFanta 3Pro and pack it inside cabin luggage (the length and width of the filters and other components are 32 cm by 32 cm). In addition, the AirFanta 3Pro can be powered by a power bank when you don’t have ready access to a power supply. Connect your AirFanta 3Pro to a power bank via a DC-to-USB cable (sold separately) that supports at least 4.0 A if you need access to clean air during emergencies.
